A Naming Ceremony is a beautiful alternative to a Christening or Religious Ceremony to celebrate the arrival of a baby and to welcome them into the family and extended family in a unique and personal way.

A Naming Ceremony may include;

  • A story about the baby’s journey so far

  • An introduction to the parents, grandparents and any supporting or guiding adult (known as Godparents in religious ceremonies)

  • Vows and promises can be written and read by the parents, grandparents and supporters

  • Readings, poems, hymns and music

  • If you have older children, you may choose to include them in the ceremony by reading a poem, singing a song or handing out favours. If they are very young, you may wish to include them by reaffirming your love and commitment to them.

A Celebrant Naming ceremony allows you the freedom to celebrate the arrival of the child into the family in a relaxed, non-traditional way.

If you’d like to involve me in your special day, here’s a breakdown of how I usually work;

  • An initial meeting to discuss what style of Ceremony you are looking for, the timing and cost. 

  • I will give you a questionnaire to fill out to tell me about the person being named story I.e. what the name means to you, their journey into this world so far, if you want family and friends to be involved in the Ceremony.

  • I will be contactable by phone and email with any questions or help you require.

  • I can help you, if needed, with suggestions of poems, reading and songs and where to fit these in to your Ceremony.
    I will create a personalised Ceremony draft for you to read. Feel free to change it to suit your wishes until it is exactly right for you.

  • We’ll have another meeting prior to your big day to run through the ceremony and its 'choreography' and visual look.

  • And lastly, I will be there on the day to deliver the perfect ceremony we have created together, with professionalism, care and passion.

Please note this Ceremony requires no legalities to be completed.

Fees

Naming/Adoption Ceremony: standard cost £250.00
A deposit of £100 will be required on booking. The balance is due 2 weeks prior to the Ceremony.
